I got home the other day and walked into my bedroom only to be greeted by a strange sight. On my floor was a butt, yes the back end of something. It was furry and shaped like a squirrel but the tail was long and hairless like a rat’s. The feet were narrow with long claws. It was fairly large so I’m really glad that the whole animal wasn’t there and alive. Needless to say the cats were very up set when I proceeded to dispose of it. I guess even cats want you to appreciate their gifts.

Well this seems to be the summer of surgery for me. Tomorrow I am scheduled to have surgery on my left arm. Cubicla tunnel syndrome. The nerve is being pinched in my elbow. It has to be moved so it will not die. Not sure what the recovery time will be of this. At least it is my left arm. With any luck I will be back to normal (if I ever was normal) by the time the kids are back at school.

Not much new. Loved having the kids here for the 4th of July. It is always special to get to spend time with them.
I am dealing with contractors to get my roof replaced due to the hail on June 15. Also a window needs to be replaced. In addition I am remodeling my fireplace and laying wood and ceramic tile floors. Vacation has been very busy for me.

Here it is the 4th of July. Happy Birthday America. The best place on earth to live. As Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death.” The fact that so many Americans have gone to their deaths to protect our liberty should be something everyone of us stops and contemplates on this day.

OK so I am planning on putting down wood flooring in my living room dining room. The problem is I have this brick fireplace with a built up hearth. I would love to redo the fireplace to get rid of the brick and up date its looks. Does anyone out there know if this can be done? If I tear the brick off is there sheet rock behind? If I tear out the raised hearth how do I lower the fire pit area? Maybe I am getting into more than I can handle alone. Any ideas, help, comments?

Last night Molly brought me a present. A little rabbit. She was carrying him like a kitten. When she got in front of me she dropped him and he took off. For the next several minutes the chase was on. I finally cornered him in my office. He was so cute and just cuddled into my hands while I rubbed him. I took him back outside to the neighbor’s yard and pointed him toward the wooded area behind. He sat very still for just a second then took off at top speed. He will have a real story to tell his family. As for Molly, I tried to explain to her this was not acceptable but I have a feeling she didn’t understand or being a cat doesn’t care.

Yesterday I spent the day with my 9 year old niece and Mr. Campbell and his two grandaughters ages 7 yrs. and 13 months. It is just amazing to me how active kids can be. The older girls played WII and then watched a movie while Livie, the 13 month old, explored everything she could get her hands on including the cat. She is soooo cute but I was still glad when she decided to take a nap. She jabbers constantly. John decided to let the girls make their own lunch. He made pizza dough and then gave it to Kailey and Hadleigh to put sauce and topings on it. They were so excited to “cook” their own pizza and be able to fix it anyway they wanted. Actually they did a pretty good job, the pizzas were very good. After Livie woke up we took them all swiming. This was Livie’s first time and she was not overly impressed. By the time we got back, got everyone dressed and took everyone home I was exhausted. I am so glad that we have kids when we are young and grandkids when we can spoil them and then take them home.
